About Us:
With almost 6,000 members, UFCW Local 1625 is one of the largest and most diverse Local Unions in Florida. Our jurisdiction covers almost every part of the Sunshine State, and our members work everywhere from Walt Disney World, to hospitals and nursing homes, in Chemical Plants, Food Processing, and many other industries. Local 1625 was chartered in 1979, the same year the UFCW itself was formed, through the merger of smaller Local Unions that had been representing workers in Florida for several decades. We are one of over 950 UFCW Local Unions that belong to the UFCW International, which represents over 1.3 million workers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
At Local 1625, we believe there are two sacred duties: Organizing the Unorganized, and Servicing our Members. Through organizing, we have not only grown, but also strengthened the industries we represent, and brought the benefits of a Union contract to hundreds of workers. Servicing our members means a commitment to enforcing their contract and protecting their rights in the workplace, as well as fighting for things like better wages, working conditions, health care, and retirement, at the bargaining table.
